Capcom Bringing Back Six Classic Disney NES Games

In a bit of news that came out of nowhere, Capcom announced that they’ll be releasing a compilation of six of their classic Disney licensed titles that were originally released on the NES. DuckTales, DuckTales 2, TailSpin, Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers 2, and Darkwing Duck are coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows with some bonus features. You’ll be able to rewind time in case you screw up, something that’ll come in particular handy when playing Darkwing Duck. There will also be Boss Rush and Time Attack modes if these things aren’t challenging enough for you. There’s also the Disney Museum that will allow you to check out concept art, original advertisements, character art, and music.

This collection is quite the pleasant surprise because of what a licensing nightmare I thought these would be. Both Chip ‘n’ Dale 2 and  DuckTales 2 saw a rather late-in-life NES release with what must have been a smaller print run, so the prices of each those games is well over $100 for the cart by themselves. It’s nice to be able to have access to those two titles in particular without paying the exorbitant prices for the original carts, but having all six in one package makes this one an easy purchasing decision if you’ve ever been remotely interested in them.

The Disney Afternoon Collection releases April 18th, 2017 for the price of $19.99.  You can check out the announcement trailer and some screenshots below.
