It’s back-to-back Mario! Jason Arriola, Vanessa Cahill, and John Lucero talk about the very first video game movie, Super Mario Bros.; The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach. Before you start wondering how you missed this one, it’s an anime OVA that never saw a release outside of Japan. And Nintendo doesn’t seem too keen on acknowledging its existence (although there are some oddball things that happen here that end up happening in future entries of the games). While we razzed the Super Mario Bros. movie about not being particularly faithful to the source material on the previous episode, this shows that being more faithful doesn’t mean it’s going to be a more enjoyable adaption.
