If you’ve been wondering just how long the gap between the Japanese release of Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom and the releases in North America and Europe, I’ve got some good news for you. Ni No Kuni II will be releasing worldwide simultaneously on the Playstation 4 and Steam. No actual date has been set, but it’s coming to Steam, something previously unannounced, continues the recent trend we’ve seen of JRPG’s making the jump to PC as well.
Level-5, the developer of the original Ni No Kuni, returns to work on the sequel, but without the involvement of Studio Ghibli. While I’m glad to see the series continue, I’m a little more concerned about it now than I’d like to admit. Level-5 did a marvelous job with Dragon Quest VIII and IX, but that was with an established property and having Square Enix guiding their hand. When left to their own devices, the quality can vary wildly. With any luck, Bandai Namco will keep a tight leash on them and we’ll end up with something more memorable than White Knight Chronicles.
