Nintendo announced that it will be bringing out a limited edition version of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. The limited edition will cost $59.99 and, in addition to the game, comes with a hardcover artbook, a sound selection CD soundtrack, reversible cover art for the game itself, and three pins that feature Alm, Celia, and Marth in their sprite forms.
They’ve also given us some more information about the amiibo functionality of the game. The Alm and Celia amiibo, the cover characters for the game, will be sold as only a set and will be priced at $24.99. The amiibo will each unlock exclusive dungeons, allowing you to level up and get special equipment for your armies. When you select Mila’s Turnwheel and use the amiibo in battle, you can give up a portion of Alm and Celia’s health to give you a special “illusory” character for one turn. The strength of the summon is tied to their level, so it would be to your benefit to save their levels into the amiibo. The Marth, Corrin, Ike, Roy, Robin, and Lucina amiibo will also summon “spectral visages” of the corresponding amiibo to the battle to aid you. All other amiibo will also allow you to summon a monster to the battlefield to aid you. I guess those nearly 60 plus amiibo I have will be getting some more use aside from consumable drops in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild after all.
If you’re a fan of Fire Emblem, you should probably keep an eye on this as these limited editions tend to run out quickly. Nintendo doesn’t do very well when estimating demand for things, so I can’t imagine they’d be bucking that trend with this. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia launches on the 3DS May 19th.
