This week, I’m getting back to the game soundtrack I had to pull an audible on – Star Trader for the X68000! I originally thought the soundtrack for this version was the same as the original version of the game on the PC-88. As it turns out, I was way off! The original version of the game was made by Falcom, with Meiko Ishikawa (as part of Falcom Sound Team jdk) handling the composition duties. The X68000 version contains two of Ishikawa’s pieces, but the rest are unique to this version of the game composed by Yasuo Ito, Hiroya Hatsushiba, Takeshi Maruyama, and Keishi Yonao.
I wouldn’t have learned all this if it wasn’t for two people. First, is Josep, who runs the Falcom Music Channel on YouTube. The other person is The Spoony Bard, who has a great cover album on Bandcamp of this version of Star Trader’s soundtrack, except done on the SNES.
I reached out to both of them on Twitter and both were very incredibly helpful in letting me know who worked composed the soundtrack. This episode is largely due to them, so go support them however you can!
The ROWYCO theme song is “Kaze Fuma” and was created by chibi-tech for the podcast.
The ROWYCO logo was designed by Melissa Diaz.
