Well, I have some good news and some bad news. First off, the good news. Nintendo announced yesterday that some classic SNES games would finally be making their way to the 3DS Virtual Console. The bad news, they will only be playable on the New 3DS, which is surely disappointing for some. Sticking with the bad, it doesn’t appear there will be any kind of cross-buy or discount offered to those that own the games on Wii or Wii U.
With all the negative out of the way, let’s talk about the positive. We’re finally getting a great selection of SNES games that we can take on the go. As of right now there will be three waves of titles launched over the next couple of months and it looks like each title will set you back $7.99. There will also be a “Perfect Pixel” mode available in each game that allows you to play it in its original resolution. Check out the line-up below.

Only time will tell if Nintendo will release more SNES titles on the 3DS Virtual Console, if these current titles will ever make their way to the original 3DS, or if some sort of discount may be implemented. I wouldn’t hold my breath on the latter two, but we’ll be sure to keep you up to date if more information becomes available.
