Ixalan – Magic: The Gathering Card Set Impressions

As if this hasn’t been long enough I want to finish things off with some of the cards that I feel have the best flavor in Ixalan. First up is one of my favorite cards in the set.

I love Walk the Plank both for what it does and for the amazing flavor it has. I just love the idea that if you forced a merfolk to walk the plank they’d just dive in, high-five their shark friends, and swim away.

I’m not sure if this card is good, but it seems decent. I just like that it’s basically like, “give me what I want or I’m gonna stab you a little bit.”

I think Contract Killing pretty much speaks for itself.

This cards seems pretty mediocre, but I really like the idea that these pirates are just finding random shit on their ship and blasting it out of their cannons to do damage.

A giant fish that is going to swallow an entire pirate ship? Yes, please. Also the flavor text on this one is top notch.

This is pretty much just a reprint of Goblin War Paint, but I just love that there’s a card called Swashbuckling.
