ROWYCO 14 – Gekisou Sentai Car Rangers: Zenkai! Racer Senshi (Super Famicom)

Welcome to Mighty Morphin May! Every week this month, Jason Arriola and Dominic Chavez are going to be picking games based on the Power Rangers. We’re not just covering the “Mighty Morphin” era, but Mighty Morphin May has a nice ring to it, so we hope you can forgive us that technicality!

Neither Geki Sentai Car Rangers: Zenkai! Racer Senshi or the show it was based on never made it out of Japan, but parts of the show would be used in Power Rangers Turbo. We’re going to go ahead and count it as part of the Power Rangers legacy. It’s a rather simple, SNES, side-scrolling action game with a soundtrack that would have been at home on the Mega Man 8 soundtrack. This is the first time we’ve covered something by either Hiroyuki Iwatsuki or Haruo Ohashi, but it won’t be the last time this month (a little hint to an upcoming episode) their work is featured on the show.

The ROWYCO theme song, “Kaze Fuma”, was composed by chibi-tech and our logo was designed by Melissa Diaz. Like what you hear?
